Captain Yancey's flight to Bermuda opened the Atlantic flying season for 1930. Almost a dozen flights are contemplated, according to plans already announced. .Most of them will follow tho route of Sir John Alcoek, when flew from Newfoundland to Ireland eleven years ago. At least three round-the-world flights are probable. Aircraft of all kinds will be engaged, from the 12-motored Do X that carried 100 passengers en her trial flights in Europe last year, and tho giant dirigibles of Great Britain and Germany to fast, singlo-engined 'planes, of the type flint Lindbergh flew in 1927. The'ElOO and tho Graf Zeppelin are being groomed for flights from London to Montreal and Friodrichshafori. to New York. The Graf will make a round-trip cruise- via Pornambuco. The RIOO will probably yjay a visit to New York on her .homeward journey. ■ Dieudonne Costes and his companion Bellontc expect to make the attempt from east to west on 15th May. Costes already holds many .notable flight records. ' Captain , Carretier hopes to' make a flight from Paris: to New York, if the French Air, Ministry, which frowns on oceanic "stunt" flights, will raise their ban. SILENT ENGLISHMEN. Englishmen do not announce their flights beforehand, and it is not known yet who contemplate the Atlantic hop. Kingsford Smith's attempt from west to east -will be watched with interest, owing to hia record of the longest air span over water—on his flight over the Pacific. , . -/I Lieutenant. Bromley, a Canadian, whoso 'plane crashed on a. "rapip" .runway at Tacoma, Washington,' last summer, announces that ho will renew his attempt for a flight to Tokio, across the Pacific by the "great circle-" route.' . , ' •

Many Americans will be in the field. Martin Jensen, who was second in the tragic Dole race from San Francisco to Honolulu, plans a westward flight with Paris'as the goal. Yancey, who spanned the' Atlantic last year to "Rome with Koger Q. Williams, will make another hop. John. Henry Mears, who, with the late. Captain" Oolyer, held the round-the-world record until the Zeppelin broke it, has new long-distance plans which include the Atlantic. Herbert Fahy, test pilot of the Lockhead Company, will take his wife as co-pilot on a New York-Paris jaunt. Clifford MacMillan, a New York commercial pilot, aims to fly to London and continue round-the world.'

The 'longest non-stop refuelling flight contemplated is from New York to Buenos Aires.

Captain Hawks, who .holds the nonstop across America record, and flew a glider, towed by another 'plane, from Los Angeles to Few York, has Atlantic aspirations, it. is stated. .
