There was a slight diversity of opinion and some mild sarcasm at last night's meeting of the Borough Council, when the Mayor's programme for the entertainment of - Their Excellencies .- Lord and /Lady Bledisloe, on their first visit to Palmerston North was tabled.' - '

Objection was taken to giving over the two evening entertainments into the-hands of-Jhe Officers' Club and'the Rotary Club, as being small bodies not representative of the public. : ,''.-■'.. Eventually the Mayor's programme was allowed to stand. It is as follow:—
