WEDDINGS
A wedding of much interest to Waikato people was solemnised fit St. Barnabas Church, Khandallnli, Wellington, when Hole \ Garden, second daughted of Archdeacon and Mrs. l£ M. Cowie, of Wellington, late of Hamilton, was married to Thomas Challoncr Purchas, second son of Dr. and the lato (Mrs. A. C. Purchas, of Auckland. The I bride entered the church with her father, and wore an anlde length frock of ivory georgette, with closes .fitting bodice, long sleeves, side panels of silver embroidered lace. A long tulle veil of palest pink edged with silver embroidery formed a train, and she carried a beautiful bouquet of _ roses, carnations, and chrysanthemums in pastel shades of pink and mauve, with maidenhair fern. Her pearls were the gift of the bridegroom.. The bridesmaid (Miss Margaret Cowie) wore a pretty georgette frock of ciel blue embroidered with sprays of flowers in pink and blue, flared skirt. Her hat of lace straw was trimmed with ciel blue ribbon anil flat blue velvet flowers, and she carried a bouquet of pale pink roses, carnations, and blue delphiniums. She wore long blue earrings, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr. K. Pureiias, brother of .the groom, was beat man. The church had been charmingly decorated with pale pink chrysanthemums and blue hydrangeas by Mrs. A. J. Plimmcr, and the wedding service, at which Archdeacon Cowio officiated, was fully choral, both Kbandallali and Ngaio choirs attending. The reception was held at "Kookaburra," the beautiful homo of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. PJimmor, Mrs. Cowie receiving her guests in a frock of black satin moire and gold tissue, with a small hat of black silk felt and silk astrakhan. She wore a sealskin coat, and carried a bouquet, of violets and purplo anemonics. Miss Kathleen Cowie was in a frock of autumn tinted flowered ninon and a small nigger brown felt hat. Miss Morse (Auckland), aunt of the bridegroom, a navy coat with collar and enffs of skunk and a* navy hat. Mrs. It. Seddon (Hamilton), aunt of the bride, a black sealskin coat over black ring velvet, and a black hat, Mrs. A. J. Plimmer was in a- frock of bottle green silk la-ce and small toque of green feathers. 'After the. reception, the bride and bridegroom left by car for their wedding'trip, the bride wearing a smartly tailored suit of lido blue, with fox furs and a small blue felt hat.
A. wedding which interested uiany friends was that of Olive Spencer, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Moorhouse, Matipo street, Riccartou, and Alexander, only son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Burbe'ry, of Ceylon. Tho Rev. R. de Lambert performed the ceremony at St.'James's Church, Riccarton," Christchureh. Miss Bailey was organist, and the church was decorated with autumn flowers and foliage. The bride wore a long-sleeved frock" of ivory lace in maidenhair design, mounted on satin beaute. Her lightly embroidered tulle veil was fastened with sprays of orange blosson to a Juliet cap of pearls; and she carried a bouquet of white and pale pink flowers. The bridesmaids were , Misses Margaret Simpson ■ and Hazel Moorhousc. Miss Simpson's frock was of peach pink, and Miss Moorliouse's of elm green georgette. Their felt hats with pleted brims, matched their frocks, and both girls carried bouquets of -autumn tinted flowers. Mr. F.1 Walker was best man;, and' Mr. Leicester Moorhonse was groomsman. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a lucky horseshoe >by Pat O'Neill. After the ceremony a reception was hold at Dixieland, where the guests were received by the bride's mother, who wore a frock oi navy, colanesc, .with beige and gold appliques, and a navy felt hat trimmed with embroidery in vivid colours, which were repeated in her bouquet. Mrs. Harris, sister of the bridegroom, wore a frock of patterned -ring velvet and hat to tone. When the bride and bridegroom left for a tour the former wore a frock of bottle green crepe satin inset with panels of-patterned velvet to tone, a green felt hat, and a marmot coat, the gift of. the 'bridegroom.
