PALMEKSTON N., This Day

A youth, Allen Bull, was charged at the Magistrate's Court with bringing an acetylene lamp within ten feet of the fuel tank of a motor vehicle while such tank was being filled with petrol. The Inspector of Explosives stated tha-o the deitmdant exiled at a petrol station to secure benzine. The tank, overflowed and the benzine became vapourised in the hot engine and a fire occurred. The prosecution was brought by the Department as a warning to.the public.

His Worship said that there appeared to be a very real danger, which was intensified when they realised how many filling stations there' were in the crowded portions of towns, r
