TEN MATCHES TO TWO
(Received 17th May, 10 a.m.) ! LONDON, 16th May; America retains the Walker Cup by winning ten matches to two. In the second ro.und of the foursomes Tolley and Wethered (Britain) defeated yon Elm and Voight, 2 and 11. The match-was full of thrills. Tol ley, with a great chip shot for three at the fifth, and another at the eighth : for two, squared the match. The Eng- | lishmen led first at the thirteenth hole, *' when 'yon Elm was somewhat jumpy under the strain. The excitement was intense. At later holes, the play was patchy on both sides. The Englishmen went to the eighteenth dormy one, and all was over when yon Elm failed to reach the green with I a long brassie. > In the remaining matches the Americans were definitely superior. In the singles, Jones beat Wethered, 9 and 8. ■ Voight beat Holderness, 10 and 8; Johnston beat Tolley 5 and 4; yon Elm beat Hartley, 3 and 2; Mackenzie beat Campbell, 6. and 5; Willing beat Smith, 2 and 1; Moe beat Stout, 1 up; Torrance beat Ouimet, 7 and 6.
