At the annual dinner of the Upper Clapton Eugby Football Club, at the Hotel Cecil, New Zealand was, represented by players and by three members of the High Commissioner's staff, reports "The Post's" London correspondent. For a number of years this club has encouraged ex-New Zealand footballers to join them, and the senior team at the present time includes Harry C. Steere (Greenmeadow), G. D. Lishman (Invereargill), F. Turnbull (Wellington), and H. Baird (Hastings). Steere and Lishman are both-members of the High Commissioner's staff, and Turnbull and Baird aiM> engag'C^ in other occupations in London. "Big Bill" Thompson, the Mayor of Chicago, second largest city in the United States, receives a salary of 18,00p dollars (£3600) a year. Mayor Walker, o£ New York, receives 40,000 dollars (£8000), four times the' amount received by the Governor p£ his State.
