FAITH IN SIDE
MANAGER INTERVIEWED
In a talk with a "Post" reporter, Mr."James Baxter, the manager, said that, although' they were sorry that several of the Scottish players, had been unable to make the trip, they had got together a very fine side. They had had about fifty's first-class players to choose from, and had got together- a splendid international side.' In the party of, twenty-nine players there were twenty-four who gained- their international caps. There were 16 Englishmen, 7 Welshmen, 5 Irishmen, and 1 Scot. The average age of the members was twenty-f our,' and .he was sure that they would be able to field a very strong side. Throughout the trip they had experienced fine weather and every day had gone through a course of physical training. '. ••* . ' i ;
Bugby at Home owed a great debt to the visit of the two All Black teams of 1905 and 1924 i The first team had arrived in England when the gamo^was in a lethargic state there and their *play had been an inspiration. The second team had'carried on the work of teaching tho Home players the need forsaking the game "seriously; and becoming thoroughly fit..
Mr. Baxter did not think that football had improved in England since the visit of the 1924 team and the international matches of last season had been below -standard, although! -there had been sonic very fine individual play. There was no doubt that the Frenchmen had improved and would be a formidable force in future international matches.
