2YA COMPENSATES FOR AN OFF-NIGHT
• The Wellington broadcasting station, 2YA, had a breakdown yesterday, and was unable to operate till about 10 p.m., when the station's silence was explained and a short programme was sent out. Wednesday is 2YA's regular silent clay, but in view of the breakdown a normal day s. transmission is in progress. ihis morning a.special session.was held to broadcast the arrival of the British Bugby team. A special broadcast has been arranged for this evening-a relay of a play-reading by Professor J. Shelley, of Canterbury College, at the W.E.A. rooms. The original, arrangements was that Professor Shelley would read . Scan O'Casey's play ; Juno and the Paycock," but on being invited to allow the reading to be broadcast, he decided to give, instead of "Juno and the Paycock," another of O'Casey's plays, '"Che Shadow of a Gunman," ' and also "The Dance of Life;" as being more suitable' for broadcasting. . . *
