A call from Knox Church, Duncdin; has been accepted by tho Rev. D. C. Herron, of St. David's Church, Auckland, states a Press Association message from Auckland. The salary is £800; with £100 a year car allowance and £200 a year house allowance.
Messrs. C. J.B. Norwood, J. P. Luke, P. C. Walt, and Captain S. Holm have been appointed to represent the Wellington Chamber of Commerce at the forthcoming inquiry to be held under tho authority of the Town-planning Act.
Mr. T. B. Eobb, third officer in charge of tho Christchureh City Fire Brigade, has been appointed superintendent of the Mastcrton Fire Brigade, in succession to Mr. A. E; Freeman,: who. resigned recently.
Mr. Orton S. Hintz (Budge), who joined, the "New Zealand Herald" staff six years ago, has been appointed the New Zealand Press Association's representative on the 1931 English, tour of the Dominion cricketers. He was educated at the. Auckland and Mount Albert Grammar Schools and Auckland University, and is 22 years of age.
In his address at the. annual meeting of tho Senate of fche University of New Zealand to-day, the Pro-Chancellor, the Eon. J. A. Hanan, M.L.C., congratulated Sir Michael Myers on being the first graduate of the University to attain the position of Chief Justice, and on the honour of knighthood,that had been conferred .upon him. Mr. Hauan also drew attention to thp fact that for the first time a member of the Maori race, the Hon. Sir Apirana Ngata, had been elected a member of the Senate.
Reference was made at the annual meeting of tho Senate of the University of New Zealand to-day to the absence of tho Eight lion. Sir. "Robert Stout, M.LTC, whom the Pro-Chancfellor de: scribed as "the grand old man of New Zealand.".Mr. Hauan said the thoughts of all went out to Sir Bobert Stout in his illness.... .--...■.
