VISIT TO AUSTRALIA

In the Rugby League match played at League Park, Petone, on Saturday afternoon, Newtown defeated Petone by 18 points to 16.

The secretary of the Wellington League Centre (Mr. W. Corcoran) stated to-day that Mr. E. Ashcr. the North Island selector, will be in Wellington this month to be present at a trial match between two Wellington teams, which is to be played in view of the visit to be'inade to Australia this season by a New Zealand League team. The New Zealand repreutatives are to leave- on 27th June for Australia, and are to play their first match in Sydney on. sth July.
