ELDERLY MAN DROWNED

ACCIDENT ON MOKAU BAR

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, 11th May. A drowning- accident occurred at Mokau on Saturday, when an elderly man, Eli' Atman, accompanied by his son and daughter, wont fishing in a flat-bottomed boat.

A heavy sea was running on the bar at the time, and while attempting to cross at about 1.3.0 p.m. the boat capsized., The accident was observed from the shore, and Mr. Prank Rattenbury and Wheteni, a Maori, launched a boat. They were able to save the son and daughter, but the father was drowned.
