FUNERAL OF VICTIM
A KNIFE DISCOVERED
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WANGANUI, 11th May. The route to the Aramoho cemetery was lined with people this afternoon when the funeral cortege of the late Miss Gladys Cromarty, victim of Friday's tragedy, passed through the city. At the graveside about 500 people were in attendance, and sympathy for tho bereaved family was very evident. The Rev. W. S. King (Presbyterian) conducted tho burial service. The search for the weapon with; which the deed was committed ended) at 3 a.m. on Saturday, when a chef's j black-handled knife, on which were stains, was discovered in a cattle-stop in the yard of the Wanganui Sash and Door Company, facing Taupo quay. The knife blade tapers from ono and a half inches at its greatest width to a sharp point, and is particularly keen. Tho whole blade is six inches long. Mauley has a complete set of culinary instruments,, and the knife is believed to be one of tho set. Mr. J. Lowe, head groomsman employed at "Koatunui," Mr. G. M. Curries stud farm, at Maxwell, where the accused was employed, said that during vias in company with tho deceased he i*as engaged "on- the farm. They were extremely popular.
