Startling allegations of bribery were mailo by the Prime Minister, Mr. J, 11. Scullin, in, tho House of Representatives to-day. Mr. Scullin stated that Miv Eoland Green, M.P., who was a member of the Public Works Committee, had informed him that every menfber of that committee, except Mr. Green himself, had accepted a bribe from an unnamed man who desired a decision in favour of the A class broadcasting stations in a claim for compensation from the Government following the taking-over of these stations. Mr. Scullin gave the House details, and said that the investigation by the Public Works Committee into the broadcasting stations' claim -had been temporarily suspended. The chairman of the committee, Mr. Coleman, M.P., who had denied having received :£SOO as a bribe, had asked Mr. Eoland Green whether he could identify a strange man who approached him on the verandah of Parliament House with an offer of £.200. Mr. Green said that he could. That man, according to Mr. Green, had said, "'Colomau has earned his £.500," and asked him not to be a darned fool. "Why stand in your own light?" Mr. Green declared he had made no reply. Ho was simply astounded. Later on Mr. Green had brought the matter up in committee, upon which every member denied having been approached. Mr. Scullin announced -that tho allegation would be investigated without delay. ■
