STILL NO CHANGE
WONDERFUL WEATHER
High s barometers and weak pressure gradients characterise the present meteorological situation. Tho anticyclone responsible for tho prevailing pleasant weather has remained centred off the West Coast, and does not seem to be in any hurry to depart. Most places in the Dominion now show a barometric reading of over 30.4 inches, the highest reading at 9 a.m. to-day being at Okuru, in Southern Westland, where the barometer stands at 30.51 inches. Although somo cloud was in evidence yesterday, with the exception of a few showers about Poveanx Strait and a shower last night at Kawhia, fine weather and pleasant conditions have continued to prevail generally. The weather in Auckland yesterday was~flnc, with a light southerly wind. Wellington had a mild, dull, and calm day. In Christchurch a cloudy morning was followed by a fine afternoon and a severe frost at night. Dunedin had a fine and sunny day, with very little wind. To-day's forecast is practically a repetition of yesterday's. Winds will bo still light and variable for the most part. North of New Plymouth and East 'Cape south-easterlies may be expected to prevail, and westerlies in the far south. Fine weather generally may be expected, with the exception of showers about Foveaux Strait. Temperatures in the daytime will be mild, but cool night temperatures with frosts are promised.
