Police and summons cases in the Magistrate's Court. to-day were dealt with by Mr. X Page, S.M. ,| Charged with importuning, / Margaret Martin, aged 37, who has two convictions for vagrancy, was sentenced to one month's imprisonment. Elizabeth 'Wilson, aged 46, was sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment on a charge o£ being a rogue and vagabond. She was convicted and discharged for importuning. One first offender for drunkenness, who hud spent the night in the cells, was convicted and discharged, while two others, who did not appear, were,each nned 10s, the amount oi their bail. When Edgar Love, aged 19, appeared (or- sentence on two charges of theft, De-tective-Sergeant Holmes said that the accused had taken the articles from his mother's house during her absence. Some of the articles belonged to the accused s brother, and others to a boarder. The accused had been in trouble before. "He is not satisfactory by any means, said the Probation' Officer (Mr. T. 1. Mills). ■■■■■■- "I had to have some money; I wasn t working anywhere," replied the accused, when asked if he had anything to say. Love was sentenced to two years Borstal detention on the first charge, and ordered to come up for sentence within two years on the second. A remand until Friday next was granted in the case of Edward William Rodenque, aged 31, who is charged with attempting to indecently assault a male. Bail was allowed in the accused's own bond of £200, and two sureties of £100 each. A domestic disturbance led to Alice and Harry Mann each being charged with using obscene language. The language, it was stated,-was used in their own hoi>v, but could be heard on the street. Each of the accused was fined £1 and costs.

Charged with keeping his shop open ou Sunday cost George William Jenner £1. A eiu-riev o£ Eastbourne, John William Ewings, -who admitted' working a horse with sores on it, but who said that ho had been attending to them, was fined £1 and costs on a charge of cruelly ill-treat-ing a horse.
