NGAIO AFFAIRS
A meeting of the Ngaio Progressive Association was held last evening, Mr. H. L. Cummings presiding.
The Town Cler' wrote that a heating system would be installed in tho Town Hall as soon as possible. A request for an additional light in the right-of-way off Gorge road was refused, as the lighting had been improved at the ends of the right-of-way.
The report of the City Engineer with regard to roading in Ngaio was received. The completion of the footpath from the Town Hall through to the railway subway would be carried out when a general scheme of improvements at the Town Hall was prepared. The question of improvernen' at the. intersection of Awarua street and Ottawa road and the widening of the corner at the intersection of old Kaiwarra and Porirua roads would be considered in connection with special works for the coming year. Improvements at the junction of Imlay crescent and Old Kaiwarra road and the fencing along the footpath opposite the Town Hall would be carried out as convenient.
It was reported that £400 had been paid to the City Council as the association's contribution towards the purchase of Gibson's property, as a first step towards the provision of public swimming baths. •
The open space outside the Town Hall, it was reported, is to be laid out mainly in grass, with shrubs, flower beds, and roekwork.
The annual meeting of the association will be held ou Thursday, 3rd July.
