REQUEST FOR BRIDGE

Some time ago the Makara County Council offered to pay half of tho cost and maintenance of a flash signal at Porirua lever crossing, but the offer was rejected by the Railway. Department. ■ .. ■ The matter came up for discussion at' the monthly council meeting to-day, and it was decided to write to the Main Highways Board asking if it was intended to carry out tho overhead bridge and deviation work at the crossing in j the near future; if not, the council would renew its offer to pay half the cost and maintenance of a warning flash signal. Mr: E. Windlcy (chairman) said it should be stressed that the danger at the crossing still continued, and the council should not lot the matter drop.
