Post" gift aeroplane was slightly/damaged, but the pilot, Mr. E. J. Lloyd, was not injured. ■ Mr. Lloyd, who. has practically quali'fidd for his "A" ticket, had been flying for some time, and made, several landings earlier in the afternoon. He made the last in the usual way, turning into the wind and coining down with the engine shut off, but almost immediately after' the wheels had touched the ground .the axle snapped. - The machine dragged sideways for a few yards, and then, tipped forward,. * the uhder-carriage being considerably strained and thepropeJlcr smashed. Mr. Lloyd turned off the petrol and alighted uninjured. He stated that ho did not think that the machine had bumped in landing. . , , . '„ ■ - ■ ]■ Members of the Aero. Club and others; under the direction of Captain Stedman, who was in the second machine when the mishap occurred, soon had the 'aeroplane righted and the missing wheel replaced by a trolley for conveyance, to the hangar. Captain Stedman stated: to-day that the damage, was not serious, and that the machine should be in commission again in about a ■ week, providing that replacements were available and that he could give the time during the next few days to the repair work. Probably £25; would cover vhe damage.
