UNEXPECTED VISIT
AUCKLAND TO CHRISTCHURCH TRIP' Eii route from Auckland J:o Christchurch, Flying-Officer H. L. Piper, co-pilot with Flying-Officer C. E. Kay on th'c recent flight,from England to Australia, landed at Eongotai yesterday morning to refuel. , The airmen reached Auckland by the TJlimaroa from Sydney, last Tuesday. Flying-Officer Piper made a non-stop solo flight from Auckland in, the Desouttcr monoplane used for the England-Australia flight. He left Auckland at 6 a.m.,with the expressed intention of stopping at Hawera, but instead came on to Bongotai, and arrived there, unexpectedly, at 10 a.m. After a short stay he continued on his ter a short stay he continued _on his way, stating his intention of flying low over Blenheim and going on to Christohurch..without a stop.
