Flying-Officer Piper made a non-stop solo flight from Auckland in, the Desouttcr monoplane used for the England-Australia flight. He left Auckland at 6 a.m.,with the expressed intention of stopping at Hawera, but instead came on to Bongotai, and arrived there, unexpectedly, at 10 a.m. After a short stay he continued on his ter a short stay he continued _on his way, stating his intention of flying low over Blenheim and going on to Christohurch..without a stop.
