HERETAUNGA TOURNEY
QUALIFYING ROUND . Perfect conditions existed for the opening of tho Easter Tourney at Heretauuga, to-day. The course was remarkably green, and well turfed fox the timo of tho year, and the weather was j idealj but except for the first half-dozen the scores were on the high side. This may bo accounted for by the fact that many of tho best players who usually attend this tournament are away, at Shirley. Tho attendance, however, Was good, and tho meeting promises to be most successful. To-day's play was over 36 holes, the first 16 to qualify.! Up to lunch time tho best card put in was that of 11. A. Black, who put in a steady 73—spoilt by a hook to the river at the fpurth—as follows: — Out: 453644453—38. In: 44454343—35. J. L. Petley and Eana Wagg did neat 75's.
