ARRIVING TOGETHER
MAKURA AND TAHITI Owing to. a combination of circumstances —the mishap to the Makura a month ago while on her way from Sydney to Wellington, necessitating her changing places with the Maraina, and the Easter holidays which caused the departure of the intercolonial steamers to be advanced a day—the Union Company's passenger steamers Makura and Tahiti, which usually run together on the Sydney-San Francisco Koyal Mail service, are arriving at almost the same time from Sydney on Monday. The Makura has reported by wireless that she expects to arrive in the stream at 6 a.m. and a message from the Tahiti gives her time of arrival as half-an-hour later. . The Makura will be the first to berth, and is expected to come alongside the No. 1 south,' Queen's Wharf, at about T. 30. The Tahiti is to berth at the Taranaki street Wharf at about 8 o'clock. She will sail at 5 p.m. on Tuesday in continuation of her voyage to San Francisco, via Papeete and Rarotonga. The Makura will return to Sydney at 3 o'clock on Thursday afternoon. The Tahiti is carrying the whole of the Australian mail, which comprises 579 bags and 101 parcel receptacles.
