HOLIDAY ACCIDENTS
TWO PEOPLE KILLED . CAE STRIKES POLE {By Telegraph.—-Press Association.) WANGANUI, This Day. Two Wellington residents were killed when a sedan car in which they were travelling struck a power polo on the outskirts of Wanganui yesterday. Those involved in tho accident were as follow:—• Killed. ME. HUIA JEFFKIES, hairdresser, aged 22, of 130, Glmznce street, Wellington. MBS. M. M'CAETHY, cook at the Victoria Hotel, Petoue,. and mother-in-law of Mr. Jeffries. Injured. MES. AGNES JEFFEIES, wife of Mr. Jeffries, who was driving the ear— broken arm and head injuries. ME. OLIVES ABpLOWSKI, of Ghuzneo street—critically injured. The accident occurred on Heads road, Wanganui, where the four people were to stay for Easter with Mrs. Heborney, at No. 165. They had motored: from Wellington. Heads road is wide, and is laid down in bitumen. In pulling out to pass another #ar, Mr. Jefiries's car skidded and crashed into the concrete kerbing, by which time it was out of control. Then it struck a power pole, which practically ripped out the driving side of the vehicle. Mrs. M'Carthy and Mr. Jeffries were thrown out by the impact and killed instantly. ' The car then careered for 150 yards along tho street with the front wheel scraping the kerb. Mrs. Jeffries and Mr. Arolowski were taken to the Public Hospital. Mr. Arolowski, who is suffering from head injuries, is reported to be in a. critical condition. ThY car was practically naw, having been bought recently by Mr. Jeffries. He had been married for about tivo years. .
