TRUE SPORTSMEN
. ' LOSSES TO TENNIS General regret will-be felt throughout the Dominion at the news of the death of the Eight Eev. Monsignor'M'Kenna, and also of Mr. Malcolm Eoss. Both were keen and willing workeis for the sport in the early days, of the New Zealand and the Wellington Associations. Dean M'Kenna, as be was known to his fellow-workers in the sport, represented the Wellington' Association, of which he was president, on the council of the New Zealand Association as a vice-president in 1904, and for many years afterwards.' In those days he attended committee meetings of the governing body, and always took the chair. Much valuable assistance was always rendered by him before and during tournaments, and by his wisp as well as timely advice the sport was uplifted in many ways. He will always be remembered for his cheerfulness and foresight when ' burdens ha«l to be borne and obstacles surmounted. The Dean indeed was a true sport from every point of view. Malcolm Boss was also one of those quiet workers in the early days of the governing body as well as the Wellington Association. He was a good committeeman, and ever-ready to shed his coat when work had to be done. He was a great believer in fitness for those playing the game, and he practised what he preached. ' Even after being out of office he was a keen follower of the sport, and many and valuable hints from him came the way of players he associated with.
