:<: ■ conference report : The conference of delegates, from..the" Churches oE Christ continued proceedings this morning • with a good, attendance of delegates. 'The report for the Social Problems Committee was presented by Mr. W. G Carpenter and"-. enthusiastically ■ receiv ■ cd. During the ;morning Mr. M. 'Murray . was introduced as a deputation from the New Zealand Alliance. He was assured i by the conference of the loyal support oi the Churches of Christ, and the following resolution was .carried unanimously: . "That we record our unwavering determination" to continue the fight for the ultimate abolition of the liquor traffic; that we give our wiole-hearted support to any and all measures proposed that are genuinely designed to reduce - the evils arising from the alcohol drinking habit; that we direct attention to the unjustified and false claims advanced in liquor advertisements in regard to the alleged medl-j cinal and health-giving properties of alco-j holic liquors, and our opinion that these claims, being, contrary to majority medical and scientific opinion,1 should not be permitted; that we register our opinion that a duty rests upon the Department of Health to educate the community concerning the grave social evils resulting from the alcohol drinking habit; that we co-operate with other bodies in reappointiug our delegate on the New Zealand Alliance Executive, and that we strive, by every means in our power to , carry on vigorous educative work amongst the adherents and young people of the church, i Other reports wore received : from the | Bible School Department. j
