DANGEROUS DRIVING

An accident at the Botanical Gardens tram stop, as a result of which a woman suffered a broken leg, l:tad a sequel in the Magistrate's Court yestorday, when Frederick William Harris Daw was charged with having dangerously driven a motorcar.

The police evidence was that Daw passed a tram which had got to the stop before him and knocked the woman down. Evidence for the defence was that Daw coasted down the incinno towards the Gardens gates for about; 100 yards on the right-hand side of t'Oie tramear. The woman came out on <bo the road. She stopped and looked and then started to go back; with tho resul fc that she was run down.

Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M., fined Daw £4 and costs. A charges of having failed to stop behind the ticamcar was dismissed. }
