—_.—^_—__■' ADVOCATES OF EXTENSION RETURNED B.C. LUMBERMEN (Beceived 28th March, 1.30 p.m.) VANCOUVEB, 27th March. On their return by the Aorangi from Australia, the British Columbia Lumber Delegation announced that it would immediately proceed to Ottawa to urge that the Australian Treaty be not abrogated. The delegation will urge that the agreement be enlarged and preference given to Canadian lumber. Major ' Andrews said that the delegation had been given a splendid reception in Australia and New Zealand. So keeii; he said, were the Australian business men for trade within the Empire that'he bolieved they would be willing to grant a preference to Canada equal to that given to the Old Country. He asserted that both Australia and New Zealand were keen on organising the British^ Dominions on the Pacific with a view to trade within the Empire. All regarded the unfavourable trade balance with the United States as unsatisfactory. ' It would be the height of folly to destroy the Australian Treaty.
