C.T.'S IN CONFERENCE

MINISTER-PRAISES WORK

(By Telegraph.—Presa Association.)

DUNEDIN, 27th March,

Tho nineteenth annual conference of tho United Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen's Association was hold to-day in the Commercial Travellers' Club rooms. Mr. P. W. Mitchell presided. . The conference was opened by the Hon. W. B. Taverner, Minister of Kailways, who said he had gone carefully through the agenda paper, and had noted that many important matters would come up for consideration. Ho could assure them that any remits tho conference saw fit to pass on to the Government would receive most sympathetic consideration, particularly those questions concerning tha association's activities in regard to charity. Moreover, any matters concerning the railways would receive his personal consideration as Minister of Railways. The association's activities in connection with charity were most praiseworthy, and it was not so much the actual monetary expenditure involved in them as the spirit at tho back of them. Frequently conferences resolved themselves into more or less informal talk, but the present gathering was one of practical business men, and ho had no: doubt that' much good would come of it. Ho cordially wished it the great success" it deserved. ; The following .remits were dealt with:—• ...... ■ From the Canterbury Centre: "That the Board of Management of tho United Commercial Travellers and Warehouse-1 men's Association's accident and sickness insurance scheme be asked to give consideration to extending the benefits to include sicknesses on similar lines to those of the Australian Association's accident and sickness insurance policy."—Lost. ...;....
