V.M.C.A. HOCKEY CLUB

Mr C. S. Falconer was re-elected president of the Wellington Y.jM.C.A. Hockey Club at the annual meeting this week. Other officers were elected as follows:— Vice-presidents. .Messrs. G. M. Fildes, L. J. Greenberg, It. Lightfoot, W. G. Morpeth, and E. M. 'Ryan; club captain, JUr. F. F. Mead; hon. secretary,^Mr. JCoombe; hon. treasurer, Mr. G. Kiley; hon auditor, Mr. L. R. Petrie; delegates to the W.H.A., Messrs. C. S. Falconer and K. Falconer: management committee, Messrs. C. S. Falconer, W. J. Mason, L. ,1 Greenberg. F. F. Mead. J. Ooombe, G. ltilcy. T. Ferguson, and D. Ewen: selection committee. Messrs. F. F. Mead, 1. M'Uonncll, and T. Ferguson. , The annual report stated that there was a slight decrease in membership last season, the average number being about 4;>. The club was placed eighth in the club championship, gaining 42 points out of a possible 157. Although there were many changes in its personnel, the senior A team quite justified its entry and finished sixth in the competition. Representatve honours were gained by K. Falconer, T. Ferguson, and. R. Bennetts. At the end of the season a match was played with the Masterton V.M.C.A. for the New Zealand V.M.C.A. Shield, the visitors being beaten by 3 goals to 1. Motions of appreciation for services rendered to the club were passed to Mr. N. R. Jacobsen for his services'as coach and his valuable and instructive lectures; Mr. Iv. Sword for his work as hon. secretary during the past.season; Mr. T. M'Donnell for the capable and efficient manner in which he captained the club throughout a trying season. Members .expressed a desire to make use of the V.M.C.A. gymnasium, on Wednesday evenings for training purposes, and the majority of those present promised to attend regularly, throughout' the reason, .
