MUST WEAK GOWNS
NOTICE TO STUDENTS
(Special to "The Evening Post.")
AUCKLAND, 7th March,
Much interest has been aroused in a notice from the Chairman of the Professorial Board at Auckland University College that all matriculated students (with the exception .. of : . first-year students) are expected to wear gowns at all lectures. This has been a much debated question in the past and the students . themselves, ' through their association, have moved in the matfjer by asking that all students be required to wqar gowns. . There are practical difficulties in the way of enforcing such a decree, not the least being that of expense, particularly for night students who may be attending only one class. Tho inconvenience of students just released from work to attend a 5 o'clock class having to get a gown from some locker is another point to; be considered. Nevertheless, Professor F. P. said to-day that it would bo to the advantage of tho college if gowns were worn •by all students. The type of gown adopted is the Cambridge gown.
