PALMEBSTON N., This Day.

The mysterious death of Mr. Walter Edwin Price, which occurred at his Featherston street, Palmerston North, early on Wednesday morning, still remains unexplained.

Interviewed yesterday, both / .John and George Price, the two sons of the deceased, were emphatic, that their father had been murdered. "My father would never commit' suicide," said the younger brother confidently. Neither of- the sons could suggest any possible motive for-a murder, and both stated feat as far-as they knew their father was without enemies. ' -

John Price stated that on the night of the tragedy, the house had been unsecured. ' The doors were not locked and as far as he knew the window catches were> not fastened., His father had no firearms in the house, With the ■ exception of a disused pearifle found in an outhouse.

■Outside the window of the deceased's bedroom the: ground has been preparod for a lawiij and would.show any footmarks very plainly. The younger Price stated that as far as he ■ knew there had been no traces to indicate that any person had crossed the lawn either approaching or leaving the house. Entrance could be effected, however, without crossing the lawn, as tho bedroom window opens on to the front verandah:'-of the .house, which, is, '.approached/ by'a concrete path front the front gate. - ,
