BETTER WEATHER
OUTLOOK PROMISING
Since last night the weather generally has changed for the better, and this morning saw an improvement on, yesterday's somewhat cool and changeable conditions. Cloud, however, was still in evidence this morning on the East Coast, and it was raining at Timaru. Opotild had somo heavy rain last night, but most of the rain in eastern districts has been of a light and scattered character. The depression, which has been situated east of the Dominion, has now passed away out of effective range to beyond the Chatham Islands, and a moderate anti-cyclone is advancing on to tiie Dominion from the Tasman Sea. Light to moderate south-easterly or southerly winds have been the general rule. Auckland's weather yesterday was changeable, the weather being fair in the morning, threatening in the afternoon, and fine at 'night, with a light southerly. It was a dull and cool day in "Wellington with a light south-easter-ly wind. Dull and cold conditions prevailed in Christehurch, and some light showers fell. Dunedin had a little rain in the afternoon, the sky being generally cloudy. i ' Prospects for a continuance of fine weather are now brighter. From Cook Strait northward moderate or light south-easterly winds may bo expected, with southerlies prevailing elsewhere, but in southern districts winds will veer to the north-west. Although there may be showers on the coast' between Castlepoint and East Cape, fair to fine weather may' be looked forward to. Temperatures, after a cool night, are likely to rise to-morrow.
