COMMITTEE TO CARRY ON The monthly meeting of the Hataitai School Comniittee was held at the school last evening, the chairman (Mr. H. R. Searle) presiding. . ' ' The report on the recent school picnic showed that about 450 adults and parents attended, and the function was a great success. / As the committee had previously notified the board that it intended resigning in a body, the question of the control of the school's affairs was discussed, and it was unanimously decided to carry on until the annual householders' meeting in April. The committee feels that in the interests of the scholars it should carry on till the parents-have an opportunity of electing a new, committee next Imonth. A silver cup was gratefully accepted from Mr. Clark (Hataitai) for competition in essays by the scholars. It wsib decided to write thanking Mr. Clark for his continued interest in the local school. A large amount of routine business was transacted, and pleasure was expressed at the fact that the Department was calling for tenders for the erection of the concrete retaining wall on the school grounds.
