RECENT: EXAMINATIONS

It is not often that tho fair sex is, allowed to invade the sacred atmo-| sphere of a business men's luucheon, but yesterday afternoon tho Wellington Chamber of Commerce made an exception. Included in tho guests were a number of' young ladies who wcro successful candidates' at the receiit commercial: c-xaminations held by tho chamber, and they wore presented with1 their prizes by the chairman of the Education i Committee (Mr. Audrow Fletcher). Mr. Fletcher remarked that tho Wellington Chamber was the first organisation of its kiud to conduct such examinations, ■ but' other organisations were now considering tho possibility of following in ■ their .footsteps. The Wellington Chamber intended to hold another examination .'shortly.
