CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
RECENT: EXAMINATIONS
It is not often that tho fair sex is, allowed to invade the sacred atmo-| sphere of a business men's luucheon, but yesterday afternoon tho Wellington Chamber of Commerce made an exception. Included in tho guests were a number of' young ladies who wcro successful candidates' at the receiit commercial: c-xaminations held by tho chamber, and they wore presented with1 their prizes by the chairman of the Education i Committee (Mr. Audrow Fletcher). Mr. Fletcher remarked that tho Wellington Chamber was the first organisation of its kiud to conduct such examinations, ■ but' other organisations were now considering tho possibility of following in ■ their .footsteps. The Wellington Chamber intended to hold another examination .'shortly.
Tho prize-winners were as follow:— Miss IV Armitage,' first honours, shorthand 140 words per minute; Miss. K. Schbles, second ,hononrs, shorthand 130 ivoKTs1 pe'r3inui©;*Miss E. Z. Bankine, first honours; typewriting (senior); Miss A. L.: Elboru, second honours, type-writ-ing (senior); Miss'Pl M. Borrows, first distinction,, handwriting;-Miss I. S. F. Dixon Cawipbell, first honours, bookkeeping; Mr. ;Ai p. 'Kohn, second distinction, bookkeeping. Special prizes:— Miss ,Freda Stott, honours, shorthand 120 words per minute, distinction,,typewriting ' (senior);',': Miss A. M. Morfee, honours, shorthand I*oo words per minute, and distinction, -bookkeeping; Miss G. M. Goslin, honours, shorthand 80 words per minute;-arid distinction, typewriting (junior); Miss D. Sherlaw, distinction, shorthatid'lOO words per minute, and honours, typewriting (junior); Miss E. G. Campbell distinction shortr hand 130 words per minute, and distinction, typewriting (senior); Miss J. B. Tolley, 'distinction, shorthand 130 words per minute, and distinction, typewriting (senior); Miss'J. I. Lambert, distinction, shorthand 80 words pe-r minute, and distinction,' typewriting (junior).
