PROFESSIONAL TOURNEY

CHEISTCHURCH, 4th March. The final events of the New Zealand professional golf tourney were played today. Kain overnight had softened the^ fairways and greens, but the weather was ideal. A. J. Shaw won the championship by a very safe margin. After a morning round of 73 his position was unassailable. .In the afternoon ho went out in a brilliant 32, but took 40 on the return. The best aggregates in the champumship were as follow:—Shaw, GS-72-73-72 — 255; M'lntosh, 71-75-7S-73—297; Branch. 74----74-79-77—304; C. C. Clements, 74-74-77-S1 —306; .T. A. Clements. 78-7G-80-72-30G; Blair, 315; Butters, 317; Forrest, 321. The third stroke handicap was w^on by E. J. Stratmore (net 72), and the fourth stroke handicap by E.--W. Perry (net 70).
