WELLINGTON REGATTA
ROWING ON HUTT ROAD COURSE
The Wellington Regatta Club's qnmial regatta is being held to-day on the Ilutt road course in fine- weather. Unfortunately, the Wanganui regatta is also being held to-day, and to a cortain extent entries have been affected, but in spite of the- counler-attractien the entries for Wellington's regatta arc satisfactory. In addition to the- three local clubs, Petone, "Star, and Wellington, tho following clubs from outside Wellington are represented: Avon (Christchurch), Hamilton, Canterbury, Tauranga, Union (Wanganui), Blenheim, Vairau .(Blenheim), aiid SumnerEedcliffs (Christchurch). - I: the senior single sculls, W. Turner (Tauranga), tho present amateur champion of New Zealand, is competing, also A. K. G. Jackson (Wanganui Union), last season's champion, who was beaten by a few feet'by Turner at Picton last February in tlio championship race. The senior fours' entries include Petone airl Star, and the Hamilton crew, which is the present champion four of New Zealand. In the senior pairs, the local representatives, Star (G. C. Cooke and P. H. Mullins) will'bo pitted against Hamilton and Tauranga crews. In viow of tho fact that the Star Club holds the pair-oar championship, and is defending the title next wgox at the championship regatta at Picton, their performance to-day will be watched with interest.
