TOURIST TRAFFIC

INCREASE THIS YEAR

The Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. P. A. de la Perrclle) remarked to a "Post" reporter to-day that while he had no definite figures in regard to the tourist traffic from abroad in recent months, there was sufficient information to show that it was considerably better than it was at this time last year. This he attributed to the increased activities of the Tourist Department-in its endeavour to make the attractions of the Dominion more widely realised in other parts ot the world. Mr. Perrello also remarked that many more New Zealanders appeared to be travelling in the thermal districts this year than was usually the case. . , . , The Minister has received advice that Australian visitors who have made recent visits by the Melbourne steamer to the fiords on the West Coast of the bouth Island are very enthusiastic m their descriptions of the magnificent scenery at Milford Sound and in the other beautiful inlets in the fiord-country.
