Notable perfomanees of British aviation during the past year were celebrated at a-Royal Aero Club dinner at which the Duke of York prosided. Among others . awards were made to Captain Barnard for his flight to India and back in 8 days; to tho Duchess of Bedford for her India flight; to Lady Bailey for her light aeroplane flight to South Africa and back along the West Coast; to Flight-Lieutenant Waghorn for establishing a world's record speed in. the .Schneider. Trophy race of 330.1 milea an hour on 7th Soptember; to Flight-Lieutenant Atcherley, who two hours later established a.iiew record of 331.0 miles an''hour; to Flight-Lieutenant St.auifbrlh, who three' days later achieved a speed of 336.3 miles an. hour; to 'SquadronLeader Orlebar, who on 12th September, beat all previous records^ by attaining the speed 'of.-357.7 miles an hour. This record still stands.

. The Tinder-Secretary for Air, Mr. F. Montague, expressed a hopo that although Hue Government could not participate in the next Schneider contest, the industry would put forward a BritJ, ish entry. . - ;
