CANBERRA, This Day
In a further joint statement last night Mr. Scullin and Mr. Theodore said that it would bo unthinkable that Australia had any intention to postpone interest payments, which would be made with unfailing regularity and promptitude iv the future a's in the past.
The exchange position would be much alleviated by action agreed upon between tho Commonwealth and the Australian trailing banks for tho immediate) export to London of a considerable sum in gold. i
The statement also referred to the possibility of Australia seeking funds in overseas markets to cover a portion of the Joans maturing in Australia during the present year. It had always been the policy of Australia to deal with local loans without recourse to external markets, and that policy would be followed on this occasion.
