SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS
■ Tho follqwing letter has been addressed to His Excellency Sir Charles Fcrgusson by the South African Veterans' Association's secretary (Mr. J. I. Goldsmith):—-
"I have been instructed by the'Exctive of my "association to convey .to Your Excellency on behalf of its members their best wishes for the future happiness of Your Excellency and to Lady Alice, and to say farewell. In manifesting during your stay in the Dominion the koen interest taken in the welfare of the veterans of tho South African "War in many ways, havo proved yourself to be their guide, counsellor, and friend, and my association recognises that in you. we have had a man well-known for your honesty of purpose, and whose ability, integrity, generosity, and kindness of heart, has won from all golden opinions. As tho South African veterans wero among the iirst to greet Your Excelloncy on your arrival, we hope to have a representative muster upon your departure. In conclusion, Sir, we wish you health and happiness, and express a wish that in your absence from these shores you will not forgot the voterana of the South African War." /
