AUSTRALIAN OVERTURE

COMMERCIAL MISSION

United Press Association—By Electric Tele-

Craph—Copyright. (Received 7th February, 2 p.m.)

MELBOURNE, This Day

"If the Federal Government will give th.o delegation its official blessing, the Associated Chambers of Manufactures of Australia are prepared to send a party to New Zealand to study commercial conditions there, and endeavour to remove .the misunderstandings which exist between, the two countries,'' tho president of the Victorian Chamber, Mr. James MacDougall said. It was most unfortunate that two countries so • close geographically should be so far asunder politically and commercially.- The trouble could bo traced back to tho early days when the idea of separation became so deeply embeded that it would take a lot of shifting. What was wanted was an economic Anzac. Mr. MacDougall added, that the delegation should have political representatives who would gain a first-hand knowledge of the requirements. A tour could be made of New Zealand .and a New Zealand party could tour Australia, the whole desire being to find out where markets could bo obtained and misapprehension removed.
