KARORI CLUB

. The Karori Rifle Club on Saturday fired the fourth arid final shoot of the long :rauge series and concluded, the championship and handicap aggregate competitions.

The weather conditions were all against good shooting and as a consequence the scores were low. "The strength of the wind varied, as much as, .12 degrees between shots, and to accurately gnage the allowance was.-well--nigh impossible. Even the most experienced shots found conditions not, toi; theji',■■ liking; and 'only ;four members" succeeded in "averaging inners and over.

Special mention must be made of the shootiug of T. I-I. R. Boon, who not only made.the highest score of the day, but ■with a brilliant effort improved his. position in the championship competition from eighth place.to second. Deserving of mention also was A. V. Swanson's 'shoot at 800 yards, where -a. particularly fine 47' included an, outer. The'.veteran,-Dep.-Pres. Jurid, made 45, which also included an outer. At 900 yards the condition were more difficult, the average score per man being a points lower than at the preivous range. T. H. R. Boon was top with 'a brilliant 46, while the only other members to break 40 were H. ITrankland* and .'L. Old.

The championship series, which has just concluded, and which comprises three shoots at the short and three at the long ranges, resulted in a win for 11. V. Croxton, who finished with the fine aggregate of 5,14 —4 points ahead of the runner-up, T. 11. R. lioon;. Croston assumed the lead early in the series, and by consistent .shooting secured-the ■championship for the in'fth time. Once.holder of the New Zealand Championship Belt, and representative of New Zealaud at Bisley, Croxton .is at present Holder of four chiimpion--b"hips_ for rifle shooting: Kai'ori-.Rifle Club, ■Wellington Province, Champion. Miniature Rifle Shot of Now Zealand,' and Public Service M.R.C. Boon, the runner-up, has yet to win tho club championship, a distinction he has achieved many times in other clubs, besides representing New Zealand at numerous international events. 11. Franklaud, who finished third, was club champion for 1925. :.- . '

: In the handicap aggregate, the conditions are the same as for the club championship, but the event is confined to men receiving handicaps which are added to ;tlie score made. This aggregate produced an exceptionally closjs finish, L. Old win-, liing IVoiu E. Boddy;and._.J."King/by one point. Old has shot ■'consistently throughout the competition, am} iva.s. receiving the smallest handicap,^ Ke-''afßo-.finished fifth in the championship. Gr..Boddy, who tied for second place with J. King, receives the trophy, he haying-less handicap than King, who is placed -third. '". • ■ Details:— '•■■■■ , ~ ■ - '' ■ ■ ' ;.,'.■%,: sou "■poo '■'■•■■ ■-■■, : yds." yds: Hp. Tl. T. IT. R.
