A slight low pressure wave has been crossing the Dominion during the past 24 hours, but. barometers hare remained relatively high. During the passage of the depression winds veered to west or north-west, but this morning following a sharp rise of pressure they had backed to some southerly direction at places south of Farewell Spit and Castlepoint. Kain has been almost general in western districts with heavy falls from Tarauaki northwards. In eastern districts the rain was confined to scattered light falls in the South Island.
