STOCKBROKERS ARRESTED

VANCOUVER, 30th January.
A national financial sensation has been caused by the arrest of sixteen stockbrokers on charges of alleged conspiracies to defraud the public through market manipulation. The old firm of Stobie and Furlong has assigned after both principals were arrested. Millions are involved. It is alleged that the brokers, acting co-operatively, ran up or down prices of stocks to suit their purposes, and took their clients' money without executing their directions. Provincial Governments are endeavouring to avoid a financial panic.
