RAILWAY WANTED
SOUTH WESTLAND REQUEST

HOKITIKA, This Day.
The Hon. W. A. Veitch, Minister of Labour, arrived last evening. He was interviewed by a deputation appointed from a public meeting held on the previous evening to convey a motion carried urging the re-enactment of the authorisation of the South Westland railway below Ross. The Mayor, the county chairman, and the Hon. H. L. Michael spoko in support of tho railway.
The Minister agreed to convey the representations to the Primo Minister. Mr. Veitch indicated his personal opinion. Knowing the district as he did, he strongly approved of tho proposal. He left this morning to visit South Westland. Mr. James O'Brien, M.P., is accompanying the Minister, who returns here on Monday and proceeds to Christchurch oa Tueida^. J
