MADRID, 29th January.
General De Rivera, in a farewell message, says: "It is imperative for me to seek health, but I pray I may return to serve Spain, in whatever x capacity, till death." General Berenguer declares that the crisis is a genuine surprise. He announces a transition to normal Constitutional Government. "I plan to remain in power only till I restore normal conditions. I have no political party, and do not know who will be Ministers."
Minor rioting continued throughout'the night. The Palace is strongly, guarded. Troops are posted everywhere. Police packed the square fronting the Palace. Civil guards and artillery are confined to barracks untill the country is settled.
