COOL AND CHANGEABLE
A slight, secondary depression following the recent, cyclone crossed the South Island during last night. As this gjcvndary approached the weather bocamo fine over most of the Dominion, though yesterday afternoon and evening and later on conditions \gain became usettled. Rain hai boen fairlywidespread, although there was little in the northern «nd eastern districts of tho North Island or iv tho interior of the South Island. Snow is reported to have fallen on the ranges of the South Island. Winds have been mainly between west and south, but in Cook Strait northerlies and southerlies have alternated. No gales have been reported, though the wind wag squally, at times, At Auckland tho weathor has been cool and , cloudy, and light rain fell last night. At Ohristchurch it was fine, but dull, and'at Dunedin cloudy, with some rain in the neighbourhood.
The forecast is for moderate to strong westerly to southerly winds, freshening temporarily on the eaut coast south of Castlepoint, The weather is expected to bo cool and changoablo, with showers and frost, but improving later, especially in northern and western districts.
