THE 'CANCELLED SERVICE
Kef erring to the Government's action in cancelling Norfolk Island as a port of call for the Maul Pornarc,_ Mr. Malcolm Stewart, vice-president o± the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, said that he regretted to hear that the service was to be discontinued after 31st March, as, since the island had boon included as a port of call, a regular trade had sprung up, which was perhaps the most profitable of tho steamer's itinerThe imports of Norfolk Island had inci-eased from £18,882 in 1925-26 to £55,894 in '1928-29; the imports from New Zealand in the same years had increased from. £1370 to £23,325. From this it would appear that imports from New Zealand were very close to half the total value of the imports.
