BOY DROWNED

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HAMILTON, 17th January. A half-caste . boy, Eangi Gannon, aged 14, residing with his uncle at the Pollok Settlement,. Auckland, was drowned in Hamilton Lake this afternoon. Deceased jumped off a' diving platform out of hia depth, and he could not swim. Several children nearby noticed him jump in, but did not raise the alarm'until the deceased had been under the water for several minutes. William Lane, who was asleep in a car in the Domain Ground, was attracted by the cries of the children and hurried to-the spot. He'jumped in and" pulled the boy out on to the bank. . Endeavours were made to resuscitate him for 'over two hours, but without success.
