LONG SEA PARTNERSHIP.

An unusually long partnership at sea together iv the merchant marine has been the experience of two officers of the Dani3h ship Intllcn at present at Auckland. Captain Harald Jacobsen Is still associated with his first engineer, who in May next will have sailed under his skipper's command for sixteen years. No doubt a Rood understanding between two principal officers of a vessel has Its udvautages.

M'Clellan as master of the Kaltoke. The Kamona has been recommissloned at Auckland this week in temporary command or Captain E. J. M'Clellan. Messrs. R. D. Brobner and L. A. English are chief and second officers respectively. Captain J. Stewart has relieved Captain A. •F. Inman of the command of the Kawhai for Instructions.

The Kalmlro recommissions at Wellington today, and Is In command of Captain J. Rankine. His deck officers are; Chief, Mr. J5. A. Buckingham; second, Mr. E. R. Pate; third, Mr. K. Watson. Mr. J. Dawson has relieved Mr. T. S. M'Nlcol, chief officer of the Maori, for holidays. Mr. J. Watling is now junior third officer of the Aorangi. Mr. J. S. Beaton, chief officer of the Kaimai, is ashore on sick leave. Mr. Matthew tiraham Harvey, well-known in Auckland shipping circles, died recently at Huntly, apod t'B years. Born at Ayr, Scotland, TTr Harvey was apprenticed to Youngs, Ltd., on the Civile, and over 50 years or his long life was spentf on the sea, ho having only retired ten yi-iirs ago. Mr. Harvey first sailed from London as an engineer on an Anchor Line steamer, lie was next with the Shaw, Savlll, nnd Albion Wno. In IS9T ho camo to New Zealand and entered the servico of tho Northern Steamship Co., being for some tirao ciiior engineer of the Ngapuhl. Mr. Harvey was known to many of his friends as "Bonnie Doon."

ISLANDS SERVICES.

TOFUA, from Suva, is due at Auckland on Monday. (U.S.S. Co.) MAUI FOMARE, due lyttolton on Monday from Apia and Niue. She is due at Wellington on Wednesday, and leaves on the following day for Auckland and Norfolk Island. (G. The Port Sydney will not now include Waikokopu in her loading ports, but will return to Napier direct after loading at' Wellington.

VALACIA FROM NEW YORK.

The departure of the Commonwealth and Dominion liner Valacla from New York has been delayed from to-day to 23rd January. She is now due at Auckland on 25th February.

PORT BRISBANE LEAVES COLON.

En route from London, the Port Brisbane left Colon on Thursday afternoon for Lyttolton, whera she is due on 6th February.

CARGO FROM LONDON.

The Plot Victor, which is expected to leave London in the neit few days for New Zealand, will include New Plymouth In her ports for discharge, calling there after discharging at Napier.

NORTH CAPE LIGHT.

Tho Marine Department has received word that the North Capo light la out. It will bo put in order as soon as possible.
