Excelsior Lodge, No. 11, U.A.0.D., held its first meeting for 1930 last Monday, P A Bro. George Ellis being in the chair. Bi-o.' Piercy, A.D., attended later and took his office over. Bros. E. J. King (organist) and Bro. Gillespiec, sen., gave musical iteuiß. Several reports were discussed, and a vote o£ thanks was passed to Coronation Lodge for installing Bro. John Laughton to the office o£ grand secThe fortnightly meeting of Raliiri Rcbekah Lodge No. 49, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., was held recently. Accounts, correspondence, and donations were dealt with, and a visiting committee was formed. Bro. MAdam, representing Zealandia Lodge, was present. Bro. K. Tahiwi conveyed Christmas and fraternal greetings to the lodge, and afterwards coached members in floorwork. . The fortnightly meeting of Wildey Lodge, No. 7, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., was held at Island Bay on Wednesday last, Bro. A. M. Harding, N.Gk, presiding over a good attendance. Visitors included Bro. AVlntby, of Paddington Woollahi Lodge, Sydney. One brother was reported on the sit-k list, and relative sick pay, together with quarterly accounts, were passed for payment. Two candidates- were initiated, and three candidates were proposed for membership. The Christmas Tree Committee reported upon the success oC same, the balance-sheet showing a balance. A request for help for a brother of a kindred lodge in distress was agreed to. The secretary reviewed the work done during the year. One member, Bro. On the Grand Lodge officers entering they received a very warm welcome and the meeting was adjourned for a short period to allow the visitors to renew acquaintances. On. resuming Bro Bell, on behalf of the Wellington district, cordially welcomed Bro. Pntchard and his officers. Lodge honours were enthusiastically given with musical accompaniment. Bro. Pritchard responded after which he gave a most interesting address ou lodge affairs. Bro. Qmgley, deputy New Zealand Grand Master, in his addi-ess expressed his appreciation to the Kegistiar of Friendly Societies for the prompt attention he gave to all Manchester Unity business. At the conclusion of his address, Bro Quigley read a telegram • received from Bro. L. Stein extending the seasons greetings. Bro. Shrimpton, present grand secretary in appreciation of the Jong services rendered by Bro. Godber as grand treasurer from 1902 to 1922, and grand secretary from 1922 to 1927, presented him with a past director's jewel on behalf of grand officers. A vote of thanks to the society officers, proposed by P.IMj.M.-«ro. Turner and seconded by P.D.tr.M. .uro. Cook, was carried with acclamation. Ine meeting Was interspersed with songs by Mrs. Wainwright and Bro. Quirk (accompanied by Mr. Saunders) aud also a concerted item by Loyal Sister Wallis Lodge Orchestra and Bro. G. Bell. George M. Wakefield, C.T., Presided, assisted by Superintendent Bro. Trevethick, G.S.J.W., and Sister W. Firby, assistant superintendent. When the, usual business had been dealt •with, itemsl were given by members. Star of Melrose Juvenile Temple, No. 6, 1.0. G.T., held its meeting last week, when there was a good attendance. The meeting was opened with Bro. E. Flaws, C.T., in the chair, assisted by Bro. Irevethick, superintendent, and Sister Flaws, assistant superintendent. Official visitors present were the district executive officers, paying an officinal visit, as follows:— Bro. R. Simpson, D.C.T.; Sister Hunt, D.S.J.W.; Sister Furby, D.S.E.W.; Bros. Warren P.D.C.T.; Trevelyan, D. Con.; Bradwill, D. Sec; Petherick, and Furby, D.S.L.AV.; and also Sisters Munn and MacFlierson, Loyal Melrose Lodge, and Bro. Hirst.j The programme for the evening was song representation, Bros. Simpson, and Petherick, acting as judges. The competitors were Sister Flo. Moynihan ("Gay Caballero"). Sister J. Eussell ("Kosie O'Ryan"), ,T. Munn ("AVon't You Buy My Pretty Flowers"), Bros T. Moynihan ("AVljy Did I Kiss That Girl?"), J. Nicol ("Yes, AYe Have No Bananas"), D. Appleton ("On the Ball"), L. Nicol ("It's a Long Way to Tipperary"), Eay Furby ("Gay Caballero"). The prizes were awarded to Bro. Furby and Sister Munn. There was a good attendance at the first session for this year of Loyal Melrose Lodge, 1.0. G.T., held last week at Melrose. Visitors present were the district lodge executive officers, paying an official visit, as follows: —Bros. Simpson, D.C.T.; Sister Hurst, D.S.J.W.; Bros. Warren, D.P.C.T.; Bradwell, D. Sec; Petherick, D.T.; Trevelyau, D. Con; and Bro. Furby, D.S.L.AV. Sister Furby, sen., C.T., was in the chair, and welcomed the D.C.T. and his officers, after which the gavel was-hand-ed to Bro. Simpson, D.C.T. Greetings were received and reciprocated from G.C.T. Bro. Dalton and various lodges. A social halfhour was spent at the close of the meeting.
